Designing Our Dining Room: Week 3

Blue Door Living Dining Room InspirationWeek 3 into designing our dining room and we’re nearly there. As in, next week I will be sharing the final reveal!!  I’ll remind you guys where we started…A totally empty room, blank slate. Daunting, but exciting at the same time. Our plan…a little rustic, a little modern and a little french.

1. Brass Globe Pendant // 2. Herringbone Lawford Dining Chairs // 3. Wooden Trestle Dining Table // 4. Natural Fiber Rug with Border // 5. Sika Design Bistro Chair

This past week some of our big items showed up – the rug, the chandelier and our dining room table!! (This was our makeshift table we were using before our dining room table showed up, scroll down to see our new table).

After some late nights hanging this chandelier, we finally have it up! I love it. It’s “old world” feel, globe shape and antique brass color.

The table also arrived this week. While the style was really easy for me to settle on finding the right trestle table was much harder. I was literally about to press purchase on a salvaged wood trestle table from Restoration Hardware, and at a last second I did a quick google search on reviews. The reviews scared me away from the table cautioning that it shows grease, water and spill stains. (We are not a no-spill family despite not having kids). After a lot of debate on what trestle table to get and rationalizing that water rings and grease stains just add character to natural wood, I finally settled on the archer table from ZGallerie. It fit all of my qualifications – real wood, sealed and came with leaves. It’s the perfect size for our room, and I love the detail on the legs.

Last week, I also picked up our bistro side chairs, which I am beyond obsessed with. I love that they remind me of your classic parisian cafe and was lucky to find them on sale.

The last thing to really come together before the reveal next week are the window treatments. I’m leaning on a greek key trimmed panel and am working on finding the right match gray, white and beige. I am planning on DIY-ing these to cut costs like my buffet makeover from last week.
