Over the past year we painted every room in the our house. If you’ve been following along you know our home’s previous owner graciously offered to repaint the house before we even finalized the deal, so we agreed to pick neutrals. Going through the paint picking process was tough even with those guardrails, so I wanted to share my top 10 favorite paint colors from 2015 to help anyone looking to freshen up their home a great place to start.
While I haven’t used all of these colors in my home I have seen them across many reputable bloggers and design publications during the year. As always, you’ll want to buy samples and test the colors on your walls to make sure you like the color in your room’s light. Here is another helpful guide you can reference taking into account floor hues – 4 Steps To Picking The Perfect Paint Color.
1. Newberry Green, Benjamin Moore
This rich green/blue speaks for itself. Lovely on cabinets or the perfect color for a smaller room, powder room. Looks amazing with gray.
2. Shoji White – Sherwin Williams
This is by far my favorite color of the year, although I may be partial since we literally painted nearly the whole house this color. It’s a warm white with yellow/beige undertones that worked wonders in our bright sunlight and northern rooms.
3. Bruton White, Benjamin Moore
Bruton White was a paint that recently came onto my radar when I toured the Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles Holiday Home. Nearly the whole house was painted in this color with the exception of a few standout rooms in bold colors.
4. Hague Blue, Farrow and Ball
This color is at the top of my list for the wall color in our study once we renovate. We are planning on adding a bath to the room which will downsize the room a bit making it the perfect place for a dark color since it gets a lot of bright light.
5. November Rain, Benjamin Moore
A beautiful cool gray, green that mixes wonderfully with warm tones and neutrals for a relaxed space.
6. Naval, Sherwin Williams
This is the quintessential navy. A beautiful and balanced hue.
7. Popular Gray, Sherwin Williams
Here is another color we used in our own home in our dining room and study. I love love love this gray and will say that it’s the color I get the most compliments on when someone visits our home. It’s a great warm gray staple.
8. Rainwashed, Sherwin Williams
A rich light green, blue and gray color. This is similar to a color we had in the house I grew up inand I love the serenity but color it brings to a room.
9. White Dove, Benjamin Moore
White Dove seems to be everywhere across the blogosphere a clear favorite of interior designers for a classic white. (How awesome is this study hallway??)
10. Sparrow, Sherwin Williams
This dark gray/brown hue goes perfectly with white, beige and light gray accents. Add in warm wood tones to brighten up the space. I love this color for a guest room/study.
