A couple of weeks ago, I shared our latest home improvement project where we were replaced the faux wood floors in our daylight basement. We had a friend come into town who works in the renovation business in Charleston, SC at Salt Marsh Renovations, who led the project for us knocking it out in one weekend!
Here is the before – Light wood floors and some wear and tear with a dark spot causing an eye sore right in the middle of the room.
There were also radiators in each room taking up some pretty valuable space.
One of the rooms in the basement has wood paneled walls with some built-in bookcases that also had some subtle dark spots on the floor.
We had quite the weekend trekking around to different stores looking for the right faux wood flooring. The first batch we picked up we ended up not liking how the boards fit together once they were laid on the floor.
We ended up taking them back and going with this dark vinyl plank flooring from Floor & Decor.
Lots of work happened throughout the weekend and here is the after!
And a look at the before and after.
Before & After:
I am so impressed by the quality of the faux wood flooring out there. With this being our first flooring project, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The vinyl flooring curved with the natural imperfections in our concrete slab, and I love the rich color and grain details that make it really look like real wood.
Next up in the basement will be freshening up the paint colors and revamping our vintage fireplace. Read about Flooring Process Here.
If you follow me on Instagram, you saw we spent the weekend kicking off our second flooring project tiling our screened-in porch. Before and After coming soon!
