Home Tour on Design Sponge

It’s been a little over 6 months since I bought a house. I’ve been doing projects after work and every weekend—every room has been painted, radiators have bene removed, wall repaired, new floors in the basement apartment to name a few.  I'm thrilled to reveal of a lot of this hard work is being featured in an awesome article on Design*Sponge. I’ve beeen getting questions about shopping details—scroll down!

Designing the living room, I wanted to create a space that felt bright since this room sits on the northern side of the house it doesn't get a ton of natural light. The living room is also the first room you see in our house since the front door opens directly into it, so I wanted it to feel polished for guests, but relaxed for our daily lives at the same time. To do this I mixed a lot of different design styles from Moroccan to French.

The dining room is the next room you walk into through the living room and one that does get a ton of natural light being on the south western side of the home. This is hands down my favorite room in the house. Bringing the relaxed yet polished look into the dining room, I mixed brass accents with warm gray walls and a relaxed white-washed wooden table (that doesn't show spills!) with French bistro chairs. The chandelier might be my favorite piece in the room bringing in some "old world" elegance to an otherwise casual space.

The bar I picked up a few years ago when I lived in New York, and it still shocks me that this piece came from IKEA! I loved this line and literally didn't touch or hack this piece at all down to the hardware. I kept the bar simple and added fresh flowers for a pop of warm color.

The screened-in porch may be the biggest change to a space in our home yet. The floor was tiled with a beige travertine for a polished look. Most of the furniture here was a hand-me-downs. I love the vintage and botanical look mixed with an indoor/outdoor bohemian rug.
