Growing up in the South, traditional interior design is a style I'm used to seeing. One of the things I am loving about interior designers across the country is this new more modern twist they are giving to traditional style. What is now being call the *new* traditional. It may still be up for debate what style falls into this category, but for me it's a mixture of iconic traditional pieces like blue and white jars, antique wooden furniture, classic upholstery lines like english roll arm chairs and sofas and jute / wicker. Mark D. Sikes, an interior designer L.A. is my favorite designer nailing this style. With southern, midwestern and now west coast roots, his style is eclectic yet traditional. It's the perfect mix of classic pieces with the punch it needs to feel fresh and personal.
