One Room Challenge: Dining Room: Week 3

Week 3 into designing the dining room and I’m nearly there. Next week I think I will have the final reveal!!  To remind you where I started—this was a totally empty room with a true blank slate. Daunting, but exciting at the same time. My plan was to make the room a little rustic, a little modern and a little French with my moodboard — old world meet new world.

This past week some of the big items showed up - the rug, the chandelier and dining room table!! After some late nights hanging the chandelier, it’s up and I love the "old world" feel, globe shape and antique brass color. Here is the chandelier with my newly DIY-ed buffet.

The dining table also arrived this week. While the style was really easy for me to settle on finding the right trestle table was much harder. I was literally about to press purchase on a salvaged wood trestle table from Restoration Hardware, and at a last second I did a quick google search on reviews. The reviews scared me away from the table cautioning that it shows grease, water and spill stains.

After a lot of debate on what trestle table to get and rationalizing that water rings and grease stains just add character to natural wood, I finally picked the table—the archer table from ZGallerie. It fit all of my qualifications—real wood, sealed and came with leaves to extend the table for more seating. It's the perfect size for the room, and I love the detail on the legs! Overall, I am really happy with the choice.

Last week, I also picked up the chairs. I found these bistro chairs at a local store on a big sale and on-the-spot changed my design plan. I love that they remind me of a classic Parisian cafe.

The last thing to really come together before the reveal next week are the window treatments. I'm leaning on a greek key trimmed panel and am working on finding the right match gray, white and beige. I am planning on DIY-ing these to cut costs like my buffet makeover from last week.

Next Monday, will be the final room reveal. Can't wait to share the final look!
