One Room Challenge: Dining Room Week 1 & 2

The dining room has been at the top of my list on rooms to design first in the new house. Taking a note from a group of designers who started One Room Challenge—a challenge to decorate one room in eight weeks and share progress, I’m choosing the dining room. My goal is to finish the room in six weeks if not sooner! Here is my starting point from the previous owners.

To start —I’ve identified a couple of big updates to make — new paint, new window treatments, removing the built-in radiatiors that no longer work, new lighting and new furniture. For this room, I’m starting at square one.

First updates

For the new wall paint, I choose a warm gray, Sherwin Williams Popular Gray. It does really well in this space with the light and I took the shades down in the process.

Next, the radiators we’re removed to open up more space for table and chairs, and take out these space suckers that aren’t in use anymore.

Design Plan

For the room decor, I pulled some inspiration images. I love the look of this buffet with the matching blue and white jars. Monika Hibbs home was another big point of inspiration with the trestle table and globe light fixtures.
